Mother's Restored 1932 Cedar Chest

Mother's Hope Chest

This Lane cedar chest was built in 1932, the same year my mother married my father. It was passed to my sister following my mother's death, and she passed it on to me. While moving, I inadvertently allowed it to be exposed to the elements, and the result left this piece in a bad way. My sister asked that I not paint it, and so I refinished it! The warped and lifted veneer chest lid was replaced by another matching sheet of veneer, a damaged foot became whole, and the entire chest came back to life after a complete overhaul. What a blessing to have this redeemed chest in my home to remind me of my dear mother's journey.
